Each holiday season, The HUB is reminded of the incredible power of community and nowhere is that more evident than in the annual Stocking Project. Now in its fourth year, the Stocking Project strives to ensure that every young adult served at The HUB receives a handmade stocking filled with care, intention, and joy.
What makes this project so special is the love that goes into every step. The project begins with talented crocheters and knitters who join forces to handcraft stockings in a wide variety of patterns and colors, ensuring each young adult can choose one that feels uniquely theirs. From there, those beautiful stockings are filled to the brim with items that are both useful and fun—small reminders that they are seen, valued, and supported.
This effort truly takes a village. We are deeply grateful to the Kiwanis Club of Lincoln – Lincoln Center for spearheading this project and coordinating the many moving pieces that make it possible. We also extend heartfelt thanks to our local business partners who generously donated items to help fill the stockings, including Francie & Finch, A Novel Idea, Sower Books, Muchachos, Runza, daVinci’s, Goodcents, and Russ’s Market.
Additional thanks go to the volunteers from Lincoln Center Kiwanis, Capital City Kiwanis, and Bryan Health, who gave their time and energy to bring this project to life.
Because of this collective generosity, young adults at The HUB are able to experience a bit of holiday magic—wrapped in yarn, kindness, and community care. Thank you to everyone who helped spread warmth and holiday cheer this season.
